Houe oil for bamboo maintenance on outdoor furniture. For optimum care, treat before using your table and 3 to 4 times a year thereafter.

Bamboo is a material that needs to be cared for to maintain a rich, beautiful surface for many years. The natural material has a very hard surface, but it also becomes porous if it dries out. We therefore recommend treating bamboo with an oil suitable for outdoor furniture. Follow the instructions on the oil-based product when applying. Use oil sparingly when applying: more is not always better.

Oil the product as soon as you start using the table, then 3 to 4 times a year should suffice. Our bamboo is treated with a fungicide and oil at the factory, which helps prevent deterioration of the material. Bamboo will eventually fade with sun and weather, but care, oil and cleaning will help keep bamboo looking good for many years. To prevent bamboo from deteriorating, please do not use table covers. It's important that the natural material can breathe.

Bamboo is a natural material and must be able to breathe. The use of a cover will cause condensation and eventually lead to the growth of mould and fungus on the bamboo.

As with any natural material placed outdoors, there is a risk of infection by fungi and spores from the environment. These will appear as black or brown spots on the bamboo, and should be removed as soon as possible.

FUNGUS REMOVAL AND REPAIR OF DAMAGED SURFACES

• - Moisten the bamboo surface and scrub with a stiff brush. This cleans the bamboo thoroughly and removes dirt and fungi. A small amount of soap can be used if necessary.
• - When the bamboo is dry, use an electric sander to sand the bamboo, just like a solid wood treatment. Start with medium-coarse sandpaper, and when the desired removal is achieved, switch to fine sandpaper to finish the surface. Be sure to sand bamboo evenly throughout. Be sure to sand in the direction of the grain.
• - After cleaning and sanding, it is important that the bamboo surface is immediately re-sealed with oil. Apply according to the instructions on the product label, taking care not to apply more than is necessary. 
• - Let the oil dry and enjoy your bamboo product.
