Bamboo is a material that needs to be maintained in order to keep a rich and beautiful surface for many years. The natural material has a very hard surface, but it also becomes porous if it dries out. Therefore, we recommend treating bamboo with an oil suitable for outdoor furniture. Follow the instructions on the oil product when applying. Use the oil sparingly when applying: more is not always better. Oil the product as soon as you start using the table, then 3-4 times a year should be sufficient. Our bamboo is treated with a fungicide and oil at the factory, which helps prevent deterioration of the material. Bamboo will eventually fade with the sun and weather, but maintenance, oiling and cleaning will help preserve the bamboo for many years. To prevent the bamboo from deteriorating, please do not use a cover for the table. It is important that the natural material can breathe. Bamboo is a natural material that must be able to breathe. Using a cover will cause condensation and eventually cause mold and mildew to grow on the bamboo.

As with any natural material placed outdoors, there is a risk of infection by fungi and spores from the environment. These will appear on the bamboo as black or brown spots and should be removed as soon as possible. REMOVING FUNGI AND REPAIRING A DAMAGED SURFACE • Dampen the surface of the bamboo and scrub with a stiff brush. This thoroughly cleans the bamboo and removes dirt and fungi. A small amount of soap can be used if necessary. • When the bamboo is dry, use an electric sander to sand the bamboo, much like a solid wood treatment. Start with a medium coarse sandpaper, and when the desired removal is achieved, move to a fine sandpaper to finish the surface. Make sure to sand the bamboo evenly all over. Be sure to sand in the direction of the grain. • After cleaning and sanding, it is important that the surface of the bamboo is immediately re-sealed with oil. Apply according to the directions on the product label, being careful not to apply more than necessary. • Allow the oil to dry and enjoy your bamboo product.
