A FAMILY MATTER
blomus is already continuing this legacy into the fourth generation in the North Rhine-Westphalian town of Sundern.Strong family ties and entrepreneurial flair characterize the family history as well as the history of a region that was once home to a thriving steel and coal industry.
The family business was founded in 1921 as a manufacturer of bicycle parts.In 1961, a new field of activity was opened with a manufacture of gifts and design objects in copper, brass, pewter and stainless steel.The year 2000 marked another milestone, when today's visionary design company was finally born with the name change to blomus.
Even though times have changed and North Rhine-Westphalia is no longer as important as an industrial location for steel production in the past, the
history always plays an important role.Because blomus traditionally relies on exquisite quality, pursues a highly innovative approach to product development, and adheres to the ideal of developing a product's practical properties to the same extent as its aesthetics.Combined with an all-encompassing design philosophy that distinguishes simplicity, feminine sensibility and a rigorous use of color, form and materials, blomus has secured a permanent place among the major players on the international design scene.
