The teak furniture specialists

Barlow Tyrie was founded in 1920 in London, England, by Frederick Barlow and Victor Tyrie. The two founders quickly built their reputation on the quality of their outdoor furniture, manufactured almost entirely by hand to the highest standards.

In 1967, Victor Tyrie's son Peter joined the company and, to increase production levels, relocated to the new factory in Braintree, outside London. Growing demand for the company's products led to the gradual expansion of this factory, which today covers 8,000 m2.

In 1986, the company founded the subsidiary Barlow Tyrie Inc. in New Jersey, USA, to serve the vast North American leisure furniture market. This subsidiary has permanent showrooms in Chicago and High Point, North Carolina.

In 1992, the subsidiary P.T. Barlow Tyrie Indonesia was created to guarantee the availability of plantation teak, sourced in accordance with the environmental ethics of the island of Java. This initiative was in response to the Indonesian government's ban on sawn timber exports at the time. The 18,000m2 factory processes the teak trunks, steams the sawn timber and manufactures the components and products distributed to sales outlets and retailers worldwide.

The company remains family-owned and now counts its 3rd generation of founders in Peter's sons James and Mark, who work in sales and design.
